Japanese Straightening in Bangkok – Shiseido Rebonding at Niche Salon

Japanese Straightening Bangkok | Rebonding at Niche Salon Ploenchit

Japanese straightening, also known as rebonding, is one of the most effective permanent hair straightening methods available. Unlike keratin treatments that wear off after a few months, rebonding restructures the hair bond permanently — meaning the treated hair stays straight until it grows out.

At Niche Salon, we use the Shiseido Professional rebonding system, one of the most respected systems in professional salons across Asia.

What is Japanese Straightening?

Japanese straightening works by chemically breaking down the hair’s natural bonds and then reforming them in a straight position. The result is permanently straight, smooth, and silky hair that requires minimal daily styling.

Unlike many other straightening methods, the Shiseido system is designed to maintain the hair’s health throughout the process. Consequently, the result feels soft and natural — not limp or over-processed.

Japanese Straightening vs Keratin Treatment

Japanese Straightening: Permanent — lasts until new hair grows in. The result is completely straight with minimal maintenance required. Best for clients who always want straight hair.

Keratin Treatment: Temporary (3–5 months). Reduces frizz and smooths the hair but retains some natural movement. Best for clients who want easier styling without committing to permanently straight hair.

The right choice depends on your natural hair texture and how much you want to simplify your daily routine. During consultation, we’ll give you a clear and honest recommendation.

Aftercare for Japanese Straightening

Avoid washing for 72 hours: Give the bonds time to fully set before exposing them to water.

Don’t tie your hair: For the first 3 days, leave hair down to avoid kinks.

Use a gentle shampoo: Sulphate-free shampoo extends the life of the treatment significantly.

Avoid chlorine and salt water: Especially important in the first week after your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long does Japanese straightening last?

The treated hair is permanently straight. The only maintenance required involves treating the new growth as it comes in — most clients return every 6 to 12 months for a root touch-up.

Is Japanese straightening safe for coloured hair?

It depends on your hair’s condition and history. We assess your hair thoroughly at consultation. In some cases, we recommend spacing out colour and straightening appointments to avoid over-processing. Generally, we don’t recommend previously highlighted or bleached hair to choose this process.

How long does the appointment take?

Between 3 and 5 hours depending on hair length and thickness. We recommend planning your day accordingly.

Will my hair look natural or stiff?

With the Shiseido system, the result is soft and natural-looking — not the flat, plasticky finish associated with cheaper straightening treatments. The hair moves naturally and still has body.

Can I get Japanese straightening if I have very curly hair?

Yes. In fact, rebonding is most popular among clients with very curly or wavy hair who want to eliminate the daily effort of straightening. Before proceeding, we check your hair’s condition to make sure it can handle the process safely.
