Balayage in Bangkok – Natural Sun-Kissed Colour at Niche Salon

Balayage Bangkok | Expert Hair Colour at Niche Salon Ploenchit

Balayage has become one of the most requested colour techniques worldwide, and for good reason. Done well, it looks effortless — like your hair naturally lightened in the sun. Done badly, however, you end up with orange streaks and uneven patches that take months to fix.

At Niche Salon, balayage is one of our strongest areas. Our colourists have worked across a wide range of hair types for years — from fine Asian hair to thick European hair — and the results speak for themselves.

What is Balayage?

Balayage is a French colouring technique where a colourist paints lightener or colour freehand directly onto sections of the hair, rather than using foils. The result is a gradual, blended effect that looks more natural than traditional highlights.

However most colourist also use foils to achieve those results, in a hybrid technique called “foilayage”, to help the contrast in thicker hairs.

Because the colourist applies colour from mid-length to the ends and concentrates it around the face, the roots grow out without an obvious line. As a result, you need fewer maintenance appointments and enjoy a more relaxed, lived-in look overall.

Choose professional color vs box dye

Balayage vs Highlights – What's the Difference?

Balayage: A colourist paints the hair freehand with no foils, or with foils  (foilayage) creating a softer blend and lower maintenance. Best for a natural sun-kissed look.

Highlights: Applied in foils for more uniform colour distribution and lift. More precise and higher contrast, though slightly higher maintenance.

Both techniques have their place. Some clients prefer the natural softness of balayage; others want the brighter, more defined look of foil highlights. Before touching your hair, therefore, we discuss your lifestyle and exactly what you’re going for during consultation.

Hair Colour Brands We Use

Milbon (Japan): A premium Japanese professional colour brand known for exceptional grey coverage, precision tone, and long-lasting results. Our colourists rely on it for most balayage and highlight work.

Natulique (Denmark): Our organic colour option, made with up to 98% natural ingredients, vegan-certified, and PPD-free. Because it contains no harsh chemicals, it suits clients with sensitivities, pregnant clients, or anyone who prefers a cleaner alternative without compromising on results.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long does balayage take in Bangkok?

Usually between 3 and 6 hours, depending on hair length, thickness, and how dramatic the colour change is. Your colourist will give you a more accurate time estimate at consultation.

How much does balayage cost in Bangkok?

At Niche Salon, balayage starts from 5,000 THB. The final price depends on length, thickness, and complexity, everything is confirmed at consultation before we begin.

Can I get balayage on dark hair?

Yes, though the process may take more than one session depending on how light you want to go. Dark hair needs lifting before toning, and we always prioritise hair health over rushing a result. Your colourist will tell you honestly what’s achievable in one visit and what needs planning across appointments.

Will balayage work on my hair type?

Balayage works on most hair types, including fine, thick, straight, wavy, and curly. The result looks slightly different on each, looser and more natural on straight hair, more textured and dimensional on curly or wavy hair. During consultation, your colourist will show you reference photos relevant to your specific hair type.

Should I add Olaplex to my balayage appointment?

If your service involves bleach, we strongly recommend it. Olaplex actively reconnects bonds in the hair shaft that lightening breaks, which reduces breakage and leaves the hair noticeably stronger afterwards. Simply let us know at booking and we’ll add it to your appointment.
